Italy is a laic state. The Italian Constitution protects freedom of religion.

In some cities of Italy, not enough to be Italian for be entitled to the documents.

***

it's in Italia. In Indonesia, it's a different perspective. If you're not muslims, things will go longer in time and it requires more data-data-data, or maybe you won't get an ID card. This "religious hypocrisy" is everywhere and it's still standing strong, in various styles, in front of your eyes..

P.S.: This comment is also based from my family's trouble in registering data for the "Family register" and the "ID Cards" in the past time, pre-2010 if I'm not wrong. And my family members are all Buddhists and our ethnicity is Chinese-Indonesian (Tionghoa).

The Shari'ah says: if that the not-muslims have paid the tithe (instead, the Muslims must pay to the state the annual zakhat), not-muslims get protection from the state in case of war and freedom of worship.
But in none Islamic state applies the Shari'ah, unfortunately.
So I'm not surprised that there are similar injustices. In some Muslim countries, there are also injustices towards Muslims themselves.
It is not a matter of Religion Law, but of laic politicians.

Io sono ateo e ho difficoltà a pensare che qualcuno creda in un qualche dio che si preoccupa dei foulards delle donne.
Comunque hai ragione, lo Stato di Diritto deve garantire diritti... a tutti!

I am an atheist and I have a hard time thinking that someone believes in a god who cares about women's scarves.
But you're right, the State of Law must guarantee rights... at all!

indeed. but there's a "small" difference between a muslim woman who wears a headscarf and a nun: a nun is sworn to celibacy. also, wearing a headscarf does not prove you're Catholic, it proves you're a nun.
people are allowed a opinion, but they're also required to research it, not start wailing about hypocrisy in ignorance.

The Bible [Leviticus] says that every Catholic woman SHOULD wear the veil. Is sin for a Christian woman does not wear the veil.
The Quran says that every believer should wear the veil.
Christianity and Islam are religions of God. The God Is the same God.

The Italian Constitution says that every religion is free before the law (art. 19). Article 3, says that every citizen is equal before the law and every citizen enjoy the same rights. The job does not penalize the citizen in his rights.
This is the law in Italy.

The nun has the right to veil themselves. The Muslim has the right to veil themselves.
The nun accepts the obligation to wear the veil because his work requires it to dress like that. The Muslim woman accepts the obligation to wear the veil for love of God.

THIS is a very very good point.
There's alot of stigma with Muslims.
I hope and pray that people begin to open there eyes rather then be blind.

Unfortunately, people believe that the news on TV (on Muslims) are the absolute truth. People do not inform themselves through reliable sources and truthful. And people are no longer able to have personal opinions and different opinions from those that have the people in TV. Here's the problem!

Yeah -A-; It's pretty sad, We have to seek our own information because the world tells us lies.
I agree with you on that, that people are no longer able or willing to have personal opinions on different opinions.
That is a problem!
